With about 30 employees, a $100 million valuation and about $16 million of investors’ money in play, IEC has plans for another round of fundraising, but Mr. Hinz said it is in no hurry. “What we really need now are more smart people,” he said. But if the Earth Engine doesn’t make power, none of these smart people is likely to get paid and IEC is likely to get litigated to ashes. And, just to reiterate, the generators can’t work, according to deep and well-established science. Compared with overturning Gauss and Maxwell, it’s more likely the entire facility is filled with hallucinogenic gas or that visitors are under hypnotic mind control. And yet the R32 roaring away in the test bed sure seems like it’s working. Some have had their faith in classical physics shaken. Tim Tight, a tech adviser in the Bay Area with a master’s in engineering and an M.B.A., both from Stanford, visited IEC in April, after hearing about the Earth Engine for more than a year. “It sounded too good to be true,” he said. He returned from his visit a believer and began reaching out to friends and former classmates at Stanford, looking for a Ph.D. physicist to explain “why the machine…isn’t violating the laws of thermodynamics.”

Truth: Is a Permanent Magnet Motor Feasible?
We recently published an article on the Power Electronics with the headline, “Unique Motor Uses Only Permanent Magnets – No Electric Power Required.” We received a firestorm of criticism that this sounded like a perpetual motion machine and that it defies the law of conservation of energy and the law of thermodynamics. Some engineers said that it should have been dated April 1, because it must be a joke. I was led to believe that there was such a motor, but the motor does not exist—at least not yet. It turns out that the headline was incorrect. It should have said, “New Discovery Could Lead to Commercial Production of Permanent Magnet Motors.” The original article’s co-author, Dr. Kenneth Kozeka, discovered a way to use permanent magnets to produce mechanical motion. The article should have made it clear that this discovery could lead to a permanent magnet motor, but not yet. We followed up by asking Dr. Kozeka to explain the background for his discovery, and he provided what you’ll see in the text below. After reading this explanation, you can decide whether you think the approach is feasible. Dr. Kozeka says it is easy to imagine the attractive force between two magnets doing work for us, such as turning a motor when they pull themselves together. The problem, of course, is that energy has to be spent pulling the magnets apart if we want them to work for us again. In this manner, there is no advantage to having the magnets work for us. Scientists and inventors alike have attempted to use permanent magnets alone to drive a motor. The poles can also be reversed by simply reversing the flow of the electricity. WHAT ARE PERMANENT MAGNETS? Permanent magnets, on the other hand, are magnets that retain the magnetic properties even in the absence of an inducing field or current. These magnets create their own magnetic field that is persistent and continuous. They provide continuous power if the magnets are arranged in such a way that the lines of the magnetic flow are no longer symmetrical and can provide a useful directional force. THE ADAMS MOTOR The Adams Motor is an example of the use of magnetism as a free energy source. The magnets in the motor are attracted to the iron cores of the electromagnets and they rotate the drive shaft and power the motor. The moving magnets generate electrical power into the windings of the electromagnets and this is what is used to charge the battery.
The permanent magnets reach the electromagnets and the electric power is then fed to the windings and can overcome the backward pull that could potentially hinder the drive shaft’s rotation. When that power is cut off, the EMF pulse is captured and use to continue to charge the battery. Finally, additionally mounted pickup coils can generate more power with extra currents. CHARLES FLYNN Charles Flynn used an electrical screening system to prevent the magnetic drag that can hinder the drive shaft rotation. Instead of using electromagnets like in the Adams Motor, he uses permanent magnets.
PPMT or Parallel Path Magnetic Technology uses permanent magnets that are controlled by a field coil in parallel magnetic circuits. Magnetic fields are steered by electrical currents. The electrical currents are not the cause of the field; they are already present and just align with the electrical current. THE PROBLEM The magnetic energy that is used to run a motor over time does not require an outside energy source to generate electricity like the sun or water. It is running purely on the magnet arrangement. However, over time, the magnets can lose their magnetism, so they will have to be replaced at some point to continue to generate electricity.
